GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
EDPR is leading the energy transition, targeting to have 100% renewable energy generation by 2030 ("All green"). Between 2023-2026 we aspire to add > 4GW/year of renewable capacity, doubling its current footprint in both solar and wind and having strong objectives also for storage and hydrogen projects.
Given the growth ambition, a well-planned procurement strategy is crucial for its success, and hence we are embarking on a strategic global sourcing effort with the development of a new Global Procurement team, together with the introduction of an operating model that leverages global scale and global skill and that aims to shape a resilient supply chain supported on strong long-term partnerships with selected world class highly qualified suppliers.
The Logistics Procurement Associate will provide support to the Global Procurement department in logistics supply chain activities including facilitating competitive bid processes ("RFP"), evaluations, and contracting. Logistics duties include planning, scheduling, and coordinating inspections and shipments of Main Equipment (ie WTGs, Modules, Batteries, Trackers and inverters), both international and domestic, as well as customs clearance, warehouse inventory management, and bonding status verification.
The Logistics Procurement Associate will also ensure a role of contract owner once agreements are in place, mainly focus on placing orders, coordinating warehouse operations and inspections.
Primary goal is to secure a competitive advantage for the company through strategic Logistics procurement.
The role will require a significant amount of interaction with key stakeholders throughout the company. The Logistics Procurement Associate is expected to be mainly focused in supporting the North America business unit but will support the Global Procurement Department leadership in any necessary global strategic initiatives across the world.
Main accountabilities:
Logistics and Contract Owner Activities
- Lead or support the execution of RFIs, RFPs/RFQs or sole sourcing negotiations to evaluate supply options and select the right supplier(s) for a given project or set of projects. Primary face to the supplier regional organization on daily negotiations and tasks.
- Define strategy for international and domestic logistics, warehouse and inspection services.
- Management of Frame Agreements once in place.
- Complete RFP process management: Bid evaluations, commercial and contractual negotiations.
- Coordination of equipment deliveries to project sites
- Contract ownership once agreements are in place
- Coordinate warehouse operations - Inventory tracking and reporting at all storage locations
- Support Project Management Office (PMO) and Construction departments with delivery scheduling and cost estimation.
- Import duties and taxes - Work close to Tax department
- Handles damage claims, inventory documentation, tariffs, coordination of quality inspection, and corrective action plans for failed materials or late delivery
Market Intelligence
- Track the global and U.S. wind and solar Logistics markets and monitor technological advances and Logistics efficiencies in the industry
- Monitor, record, analyze and report on activities, trends, results, and recommendations related to logistics and inspection activities
Process
- Support the Procurement department processes including tracking supplier qualification documents accurately to meet deadlines
- Drive the adoption of global standardized tools and processes (e.g. Appian procure, SAP, etc).
- Recommends appropriate changes in procurement governance and policies with special aim of making procurement teams for efficient.
- Ensures proper contract handover to the appropriate owner at the end of the negotiation.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Contribute to develop a close network with all industry players and stakeholders having an impact on EDPR business, including current and potential entrant suppliers (provide strategic market intelligence).
- Cross-functional support/interaction/relationships with other EDPR areas, playing a pivotal role:
- Legal - close interaction for support and full alignment on any binding contractual agreements, including the development of standardized processes and templates for all contracting efforts.
- Business Development - regular interactions about projects' development to define the logistics strategy.
- Construction - Supply agreement liaison, support on on-going issues during the project execution phase, Return on Experience on suppliers' performance, get support from the area for improved contract management.
- Origination - regular contact to understand Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) status.
- Finance - Optimization, alignment on payment methods
- Risk - information on counter party risk related with Logistics and Inspection suppliers, new and incoming supply agreements with relevant T&Cs, and market trends & new risks
- Tax & Accounting - sales/use tax mitigation, duties, tariffs, INCOTERMS
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
No direct reports expected.
Expected min 20% (Supplier factories, supplier meetings, warehouse visits, industry fairs, global team meetings, etc)
Willingness to travel internationally when required
REQUIREMENTS
Academic skills
- University Degree, preferably in technical and/or business financial areas
Professional experience
- 2-3+ years of relevant experience in Solar Industry, preferably in Procurement or Commercial
- Experience with supply contract management, contract models and industry terms and conditions
- Experience working with international ocean, air freight, and domestic shipments and carriers
- Experience working with Freight Forwarders and customs brokers on a regional and global scale
- Experience in import and export rules, Incoterms, and regulations
- Competency in the development of Business Relationships
