Company Overview

United McGill Corporation was founded in 1951 in Columbus, Ohio, as a local sheet metal contractor and fabricator. Today, we are a national company that specializes in engineering, manufacturing, and field installation of many different construction and industrial products and systems. We design our products, adapt them to specific applications, and fabricate them. In many cases, we also provide installation, testing, and follow-up services.

United McGill is a family-owned company whose president is James D. McGill. We are a medium-size company with annual sales of about $50 million. With headquarters in central Ohio, we have a nationwide team of about 400 Associates.

We operate eight manufacturing plants and more than 40 sales engineering offices and Duct Express™ outlets throughout the United States. The Company has five operating subsidiaries and each has been active for decades.

The Company is an equal opportunity employer offering careers in many fields. About 50 percent of our associates have technical and administrative jobs. Approximately half of our salaried associates have bachelor’s degrees, and about five percent have post-graduate degrees. The most common major is mechanical engineering. We offer opportunities to pursue careers in fields such as technical sales, sales service, design engineering, production, project and construction management, computer programming, and administrative services.

Associate Benefits

United McGill Corporation and its affiliated companies (the Company) offer a competitive salary and benefits package to help provide financial security for you and your family. We offer coverage to help you meet the expenses of both routine health care and severe injury or sickness. Associate contributions are required for this coverage. We also help you plan for your future. Our 401(k) Plan lets you build a substantial fund for your retirement. The Company’s salaried associates enjoy the following benefits:

•Medical Care—The Company provides coverage of medical care expenses for associates and their eligible dependents, which includes a prescription drug card.

•Dental Care—The Company provides assistance with your dental care expenses. Coverage for your family or dependents is also available.

•Vision Care—For any Associate and eligible dependent covered under the medical care plan, the Company pays for part of eligible vision care expenses. You also receive discounts on services rendered by any provider who is a participant in the Vision Savings Plan.

•Disability Pay—After a full year of continuous service, you will be eligible for short- and long-term disability pay. You would receive a portion of your salary if you were disabled.

•Life Insurance—The Company provides basic life insurance coverage for you and makes additional coverage available to you and your family.

•Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)—You may participate in two accounts that allow you to pay certain expenses with before-tax dollars. The Health Care Spending Account allows you to use before-tax dollars to pay out-of-pocket health care expenses that are not covered under any other plan. The Dependent Care Spending Account allows you to use before-tax dollars to pay for child care for an elderly or disabled family member.

•401(k) Pay Deferral Plan—Your participation in our 401(k) Plan means: taxes are deferred on income that you contribute, and the Company matches a percentage of your contribution.
•Educational Expense Reimbursement—The Company encourages you to continue your education and, after a full year of service, will pay up to 50 percent of the tuition and book costs for approved job-related courses.

•Paid Time Off (PTO)—After six months of service, you begin to accrue paid time off in an amount proportionate to the number of pay periods remaining in the calendar year. Each calendar year thereafter, you can accrue 14.5 to 22.5 days of PTO based on your years of service.

•Holidays—You get eight paid holidays each year. After one year of service, you are eligible for a floating holiday, for a total of nine paid holidays.

•Employee Assistance Program (EAP)— The Company provides you and your immediate family members professional assistance in resolving personal, legal and financial problems, which may alter your well being and/or job performance. Each covered person receives up to three pre-paid counseling sessions per occurrence per year.

That is a brief outline of the Company’s benefits package and is not intended to take the place of the legally required Summary Plan Descriptions.
