SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician III, is a senior level position, assists the Maintenance Manager (MM) who is responsible for supporting the individual plant teams training, directing, coaching, coordinating, and performing repairs, maintenance and installation of machines, tools, and equipment as well as the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of the manufacturing plant(s). This person will utilize their leadership ability to support the Company's Management System, which strives for excellence through developing people, building morale, growing a continuous improvement culture; employing Standardized Work, Kaizen, Lean, and TPM principle to ensure a safe, high quality and productive work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads, coordinates, and performs activities to fabricate or modify machines, tools, and equipment to manufacture new products or improve upon the assembly of existing products.
  • Assist the Production Team with planning, developing, and implementing new methods and procedures to improve processes, minimize operating costs, to improve labor productivity, as well as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Share with maintenance teams items and ideas that may be tried and proven improvements to the safety and quality of the operation in one plant that could benefit the others. Receive feedback on such improvements and assist in rolling them out to the entire company where applicable.
  • Set the example and strive to create a safe work environment by continuously elevating safety awareness and culture through the support and application of the BFS safety Policy each day as it relates to equipment and the safety of Associates.
  • Work closely with the Safety Director to assist with accident investigation, as necessary.
  • Work with team members to implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Create detailed work instructions for safe operation, proper care, and repetitive tasks implemented for the routine care of equipment.
  • Document work instruction, roll out and audit to ensure compliance in all plants.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Establish, create, and refine maintenance procedures in the CMMS system.
  • Respond to team/plant requests to modify procedures and tasks outlined in the CMMS program as needed.
  • Update Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program, as necessary.
  • Periodically visit plants and perform refresher training in the tools and use of the CMMS system.
  • Audit, train, and coach teams to improve focus on Preventive and Predictive Maintenance to reduce downtime versus Reactive Maintenance (putting out fires) through proper documentation, communication, and scheduling.
  • Work with teams to ensure critical part inventories are up to date and maintained so when the part is used, it is replenished and available when it is needed the next time.
  • Work with local teams to resolve issues that may be taking too long to troubleshoot through normal methods.
  • Work with the equipment manufacturers representatives to resolve issues, locate parts, install upgrades, and provide feedback.
  • Assist with Equipment installations, operation, and training for new equipment in plants.
  • Document Equipment installation by completing the New Equipment Installation Checklist.
  • Monitor daily work order entries and offer suggestions and feedback to the team.
  • Audit maintenance associates on adherence to Preventive Maintenance standards.
  • Leads and participates in Kaizen activities to continually improve the plant operation.
  • Assist with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) process training (performing routine cleaning, greasing, lubrication, inspections, and replacing parts)
    • Identify work to be done and assign to each maintenance associate.
    • Ensure all required parts are ordered and on hand, at the time of the TPM process.
    • Ensure the schedule is set to start the TPM process at the proper time.
  • Document the successes and areas needing improvement.
  • Provide onsite support to teams underperforming laying out recommendations to get back into compliance.
  • Monthly reporting, WO hours vs. Clocked hours, Parts and Supplies spending, Key Equipment downtime
  • Provide Monthly updates to the Executive team on maintenance performance and report on areas where improvement is needed.
  • Maintain all equipment operations manuals using MS SharePoint.
  • Support the Management team to maintain the proper maintenance staffing levels.
  • Must significantly travel to the production facilities for training, auditing, installations, and incident investigations
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned, at the discretion of management.

REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • 5 years, plus related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree, preferred
  • Must have experience in the following areas: Industrial maintenance; Electronic control system repair; vehicle repair and upkeep; hydraulics; repair and maintenance of fabrication machines; saws; MIG and ARC
    welding; cutting torch experience; some carpentry experience; fire sprinkler system maintenance; emergency fire procedure; some experience with industrial electrical wiring; general knowledge of services provided by outside contractors.
  • Must have Intermediate Microsoft experience (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook).
  • Must be able to work flexible hours - Mon - Saturday - 1st shift
  • Valid driver's license
  • Possess First-Aid and Forklift certification, preferred

  • Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients and outside contractors
  • Math Skills - Must be familiar with calipers, prices, etc. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability-Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and
