ChampionX is seeking a Product Quality Engineer to support the ongoing quality of the Smarten Automation products. This role can be located in Houston, TX or Odessa, TX. Responsible for providing quality deliverables through planning and ongoing engineering support, as well as new product enhancements. Effectively disseminate customer requirements and generate controls to meet those requirements. Works with engineers, supervisors, managers, production personnel, suppliers, and customers to help resolve quality issues, achieve team objectives, and promote quality principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in development and effectively implements quality strategies to optimize current capabilities. Identify future needs and formulate/implement action plans.

  • Oversees quality improvement projects assuring execution to plan, early identification/remediation of corrective measures and engagement of appropriate stakeholders.

  • Provides quality expertise throughout the product lifecycle including but not limited to product creation, commercialization, 3rd party manufacturing, and customer inquiries.

  • Audits external vendors to ensure compliance with quality and internal business requirements.

  • Develops and implements goals and action plans that align with Supply Chain and other business partners to achieve key business objectives: safety, quality, cost, service, people.

  • Insure effective collaboration within Supply Chain, product creation and all other business partners.

  • Work with development team to define acceptance criteria and test cases.

  • Lead/Manage process for regression/bench testing to ensure product is ready for full field testing of hardware and firmware. Work with Product Line Manager and Technical support/Field service team to ensure product is ready for deployment.

  • Leads quality improvements and provide leadership for resolution of critical quality issues.

  • Partner with Product Development and Engineering to advocate and support product improvements on released products, successfully transfer new commercially released products into the group and share lessons learned to prevent future product issues.

  • Drive continuous improvement culture within the Quality function.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area such as Engineering, or Quality

  • 5 years of relevant work experience

  • 8 years product line experience with artificial lift controllers (rod pump controllers, gas lift/plunger lift controllers) as well as main components of VFD applications

  • Good understanding of quality methodologies, tools, and process; preferred experience writing comprehensive test plans and cases.

  • Excellent project management skills: ability to drive projects to a successful completion.

  • Able to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualification:

  • Quality Professional Certification

  • Experience working with remote field teams.

  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification
