Job Description

ChampionX has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor at the Sugar Land, TX location. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of Maintenance work on a daily basis in the Sugar Land Plant. He/She is to provide direction and leadership to the Maintenance Technicians, including scheduling OT, performance management goals, succession planning, career development, and routine performance reviews. They are responsible for determining the repair scope of work for the plant equipment as well as the execution tactics that will be employed. This person would also be responsible for planning and scheduling all the maintenance work that happens on site as well as making spare parts and maintenance supplies inventories decisions. Finally, this position is responsible for authoring, driving, and executing Management of Change activities that do not require engineering support. This position will work closely with the Production Supervisors and Process Specialist to properly prioritize work and ensure proper resource allocation to ensure all necessary maintenance work is executed.

What You Will Do:

  • Provides direction and leadership to the Maintenance Technicians, Including performance management, goals, succession planning, career development, coaching, mentoring, and routine performance reviews. They are also responsible for determining the repair scope of work for the plant equipment as well as the execution tactics that will be employed.
  • Work closely and communicate frequently with Production and Materials Movement Department stake holders to schedule and coordinate work in an effort to achieve plant production goals
  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan for all PSM mechanical integrity covered equipment and incorporate PM's into daily maintenance schedule.
  • Track and manage a portion of the routine maintenance budget; OT, parts and equipment costs, supplies and tools
  • Maintain maintenance procedures, and manage MI documentation, i.e., Process Safety Information library and equipment files
  • Review work order backlog to ensure that each job is completed and that completed work orders and work permits are returned promptly and are filled out completely by the craftsman.
  • Prioritize repair work and schedule repairs.
  • Support and promote all Safety policies and procedures.
  • Work with Production Scheduler to set up equipment repair times.
  • Work with Production Shift Leader daily on equipment problems/issues.
  • Work with Process Engineer and Central Engineer group on plant projects.
  • Participate in selecting contractors, getting quotes, scheduling projects.
  • Help with parts procurement including other depts. in addition to Maintenance.
  • Work with SAP Maintenance Module to plan and execute work orders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of education beyond High School (College or Technical School) or comparable work experience .
  • 6 years minimum of relevant work experience.
  • 2 years minimum of relevant work experience in planning, scheduling or supervising maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of regulations (OSHA, EPA, CEQ, etc.).
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills (troubleshooting) required.
  • Basic leadership abilities required.
  • Basic computer skills: SAP, Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required. Previous chemical industry experience required

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associates or Bachelors level Degree
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to handle on-going tasks or projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer focus is necessary to service the various stakeholders (manufacturing, engineering, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership ability is critical for success.
