Your responsibilities

Summary of Position:

thyssenkrupp Materials Trading North America is one of the leading commodity trading organizations worldwide. Our experienced trading team has an established global network. We trade an extensive range of metals, ferrous products, and raw materials serving a variety of industries.

thyssenkrupp materials trading North America is looking for an experienced metals trader to join their growing team. The role has exposure to both physical and derivative markets. To be successful you should be curious, resilient, have a growth mindset, the ability to adapt to change, and a team spirit.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and selling physical commodities
  • Builds and expands a strong network of relationships with customers and global suppliers
  • Negotiate logistics and financing with suppliers
  • Manage physical and derivative risk positions, including hedging through exchanges such as the LME
  • Identify new ways to grow the business while developing new stakeholder relationships and helping to refine overarching market strategy
  • Formulates commercial proposals to counterparts taking into consideration competitors, market dynamics, company positioning, and the short/long term strategy
  • Manages relationships of key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, internal operations, and senior management
  • Analyzes macro and micro market data to make commercial decisions
  • Identifies and capitalizes on global arbitrage opportunities
  • Communicates market information and updates to peers and trading team
  • Travels to clients and industry functions (20-40%)
  • Ensure operations conform with internal, legal, and federal regulations

Your profile

Your profile:

  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Ability to cope with change, make decisions, and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of metals trading and hedging
  • 5 years of experience required as a trader; 8 years of experience preferred
    • Experience should be with base metals, bulks, solid fuels, minor metals, ferroalloys, or other related commodities. Previous physical exposure a plus.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a business discipline or other related field
  • Transferable book of a business a plus but not necessary
  • Ability to travel internationally
