Role Overview:

The High Voltage Electrical Inspector will oversee activities relating to the construction of electrical systems including substations and underground or overhead electrical transmission systems to ensure that defined schedule and quality requirements are being met. This is a full-time position for a 12-month duration with a full benefits package.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Provide daily oversight and regular inspections of the electrical system construction installation including substations, underground and overhead electrical collection systems, transmission lines, electrical equipment, and communications equipment
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with all company personnel responsible for the project as well as general contractors and sub-contractors
  • Properly and effectively perform electrical construction tasks as needed
  • Prepare daily reports outlining the progress of the work
  • Ensure that electrical construction installations are completed by project documents and specifications
  • Review and comment on contractors' schedules and provide assistance to the project team in meeting the overall project objectives
  • Attend seminars regarding code changes
  • Additional duties as required

Travel: Up to 20%

Minimum Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship program or an equivalent combination of training and experience that includes seven years of related work experience and attainment of a journeyman's card
  • 5+ years supervising crews and electrical jobs
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC and local codes, high-voltage safety codes, electrical theory, mathematics, electrical construction, maintenance methods, and the proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred

  • Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor to customers and other employees
  • Visual acuity including sufficient depth perception, color recognition, and field of vision necessary to perform visual inspections, work with small parts, and take accurate measurements
  • Strong problem-solving, statistical, and analytical skills
  • Verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
  • Walking: Ability to walk 1 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 60 and 100 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time, or as may be required, while on project sites
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
      Qualifications

      Education
      Technical/other training (preferred)
      High School (required)

      Experience
