AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

Are you a marketing student with solid strategic skills who is creative, passionate, and results-driven? Our Loyalty team is looking for you! Our team drives the strategy and implementation for AARP Rewards, AARP's loyalty program. AARP Rewards helps people learn about topics from healthy living to savings in a fun, bite-sized, gamified way - and they earn points they can redeem for rewards and savings. We'll challenge you to work across this program's many facets, from designing marketing campaigns to working on reward curation. This paid internship has an expected start date of June 2024 and will go through the end of the year.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with key projects, including curation of point-earning activities, catalog curation and promotion, and marketing communications
  • Work with designers to create program promotions for various AARP newsletters, website promotions, and paid media campaigns
  • Support Rewards newsletter content curation, copy, creative, and execution
  • Implement and support program engagement campaigns that keep people active in the program and re-engage lapsing users
  • Audit AARP Rewards point earning opportunities for quality and opportunities for improvement
  • Help identify key customer issues and opportunities to improve the user experience
  • Work with the analytics team to analyze trends and report on project results

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Marketing or communications experience, including email management, copywriting, and experience managing a variety of communications channels
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with loyalty or lifecycle marketing is a plus

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
