Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in Finance? The Senior Tax Advisor's role is to support the Enbridge US Tax System by staying in sync with federal, state, and local tax laws. You will help to maintain tax processes that increase efficiency, and performing tax planning vital to reduce the present value of Enbridge tax payments. Primary focus is on the federal and state tax compliance but will also include other U.S. Income Tax reporting responsibilities.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare and review federal, foreign, state, and local income tax returns and unitary and franchise tax returns for the consolidated corporate entities and various partnerships including working knowledge of tax return software (CorpTax).

  • Prepare estimated tax payments for the above.

  • Review other federal, state, or investor information reports as needed.

  • Research federal, state and local issues relating to current activity, legislative changes, audit issues, and acquisition planning and integration.

  • Prepare U.S GAAP tax provisions (ASC 740 and FIN 48) including utilization of tax provision software (OneSource, CorpTax etc.).

  • Assists in implementation and testing of processes supporting the Enbridge transition to FIN 18 Tax Provision calculations.

  • Assist in tax calculations needed for FERC compliance.

  • Assist in researching unique tax issues in such areas as mergers and acquisitions, consolidated returns, oil and gas pipeline transportation, and partnership reporting.

  • Responsible for maintaining the tax fixed asset records and book-to-tax reconciliations.

  • Responsible for depreciation projections relating to partnerships outside basis, including modeling for acquisition scenarios.

  • Assist in the preparation of state effective tax rate computations used in provision process, state tax true ups and federal tax true-ups, and budgets/forecasts.

Other Accountabilities
  • Quantify impact of developments in tax legislation and communicate results appropriately

  • Assist in monitoring of tax controls and documentation in connection with SOX compliance.

  • Assist in other non-specific tax activities as needed

Who You Are:
  • Related University degree and/or professional designation.

  • Certified Public Accountant designation and/or graduate degree preferred.

  • At least 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in income tax preferably in the energy industry.

  • Knowledge of federal and state income taxes.

  • Understanding of Tax Accounting.

  • Strong Excel, Word, oral and written communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of Corptax, OneSource, tax research tools and PowerTax/BNA/OFA fixed asset software preferred

  • Strong analytical skills.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
