We are seeking a senior level Operations Manager (Line Manager) for our Americas Industrial Gas - HyCO sub-region. The West Gulf Coast (WGC) Operations Manager has full operational accountability for the HyCO (Hydrogen and CO) producing assets in the WGC HyCO sub-region. The Operations Manager is accountable for maximizing asset utilization, cost management, and performance improvement. This individual directs, monitors, and controls the operation and maintenance activities of all HyCO production assets in the WGC.

The WGC HyCO sub-region consists of world-scale steam methane reformers (SMR), partial oxidation (POx) units, CO-Syngas production facilities, air

separation (ASU) plants, and off-gas recovery plants. The role reports into HyCO Gulf Coast franchise and this organization is home to the world's largest hydrogen pipeline network.

The Line Manager will manage all activities to minimize downtown and ensure customer requirements are met in an expedient manner. During periods of

crisis, the incumbent is required to respond immediately to provide the management overview to plan, coordinate, and implement proper remedial action. This role is the key focal point for senior leadership and the executing team to re-establish production and/or avoid customer interruptions.

They are responsible for always coordinating and ensuring compliance of established safety procedures. They must establish an atmosphere of safety and empower personnel to remain passionate about safety. The position sets the safety goals and ensures safety awards are performed, hazard identification processes are instituted, and initiates accurate strategic action items to improve the overall safety performance.

The position evaluates and approves the use of capital funds for facilities and equipment; sets the goals and direction for productivity and efficiency improvements; establishes systems for cost control, establishes workforce levels, and sets objectives for improved utilization of personnel.

Principal accountabilities
  • Coordinate EH&S standards to ensure the protection of employees, contractors, the community, and the environment.
  • Act as key senior leader of sub-region, partnering with the General Manager and Business Manager to drive profitability and asset optimization within full geography.
  • Provide leadership by advising and supervising plant production; identifying cost reduction opportunities and prioritizing maintenance functions to optimize cost and reliability.
  • Provide operational guidance to engineering estimate design from end of life and overall reliability assessments, the continual refurbishment and maintenance of assets and equipment.
  • Provide leadership for growth capacity and merger and acquisitions activity, including buybacks.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of operations/maintenance management progression in industrial gases or operations of equivalent complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% within region, some on short notice.
  • Proven ability to lead performance improvement with a focus on building teams and remote leadership.
