Job Description

Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Alief-International Services YMCA (YMCA)is a unique branch of the YMCA of Greater Houston; the center strives to meet Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities' needs. YMCA provides comprehensive supportservices that focus on clients' strengths, clients' needs, thorough assessments, and creating strong case manager/client relationships. As the TPAP Employment Services Case Manager, you will build relationships with 2nd chance and background friendly employers, communicate and share resources with in-house employment case managers, and work closely with TPAP's Housing Case Manager. You will also work with the TPAP team to assess newly enrolled trafficking victims (or survivors) to implement individualized TPAP-specific service plans that enable the clients to slowly gain the skills, confidence, resources, and knowledge to re-enter and advance inthe workforce.

Duties /Responsibilities

The TPAP Employment Services Case Manager's primary responsibilities include:

  • Process TPAP referrals within 2 business days
  • Assess clients' eligibility for services per program guidelines.
  • Build community relationships with local employers, workforce agencies, and/or community partners for job opportunities
  • Outreach to companies that advertise themselves as second chance or background-friendly employers and create partnerships
  • Provide educational and vocational resources as needed
  • Conduct intakes to enroll clients into the program.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and create individualized, client-centered, trauma-informed self-sufficiency (through employment) plans for each client.
  • Systematically assess clients' needs and provide suitable referrals for in-house or community support services and resources.
  • Provide job readiness training, resume building, interview preparation, and other employment workshops to build on to clients' skills
  • Maintain case files, data entry and paperwork as required by the funder.
  • Create and submit accurate reports as requested by the program coordinator.
  • Provide transportation, translation and interpretation as needed.
  • Develop collaborations with community resources and employers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance.
  • Assist with food pantry assignments when assigned.

Outcomes

  • Create relationships with a minimum of 10 second chance or "background-friendly" companies
  • Join and regularly participate in at least 4 of Houston's reintegration meetings each year
  • Provide job readiness and interview preparation trainings to 75% of enrolled clients
  • Create a minimum of five job readiness workshops per year
  • Minimum of 50 clients served each year

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate with trauma-informed care,
  • Fluent in additional language (Spanish, Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese, or any other language spoken by survivors) preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with office procedures, devices, and software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Capable team player & collaborator
  • Bachelor's degree in field related to social services and/or relevant professional experience
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, automobile liability insurance, and a vehicle.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Complete additional trainings as identified by supervisor. Motivational Interviewing, Commercial Sexual Exploitation Identification Tool training, Crime Victims Compensation Training, Mandatory Reporting training, Trauma Informed Care Training, OVC Annual Grantee Forum, and any other trainings identified by supervisor.
