POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the safe and efficient preventative maintenance/lubrication/repair activities of the quarry/plant mobile equipment. Perform general maintenance duties; repairs, replacements, and installing equipment or machinery using a variety of tools, equipment, and instruments. Maintain mobile equipment and machinery in order to minimize breakdowns. Perform any other assigned tasks not specifically indicated.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Maintenance

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in shop area.
  • Visual inspections of all mobile equipment in plant/quarry.
  • All PM activities related to mobile equipment; greasing/oiling, maintaining filters etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on mobile equipment.
  • Operate service truck and other equipment to replace components of failed equipment. Not limited to service truck, excavator, bulldozer, etc.
  • General mechanic work involving hand tools and air powered tools.
  • Perform repairs on hydraulic systems, both mobile and stationary.
  • Perform minor maintenance on loaders, haul trucks, drills, forklifts, and plant vehicles.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and repairs.
  • Assist in oiling and lubrication of equipment.
  • Operate a crane, forklift, man lift, or maintenance machinery to perform plant and quarry maintenance.
  • Perform all types of welding and cutting on mild steel, AR steel, and stainless-steel materials.

Reporting

  • Complete workplace exams and equipment pre-shift inspections noting any safety or equipment defects.
  • Generate necessary documents as defined by the quality system.
  • Maintain documentation of performed repairs and provide recommendations for suggested work.
  • Communicate defects to manager.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, experience with computers, document control, and presentation skills.

  • Learn to effectively use diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.
  • Initiate work orders on needed repairs to supervisors.
  • Complete necessary paperwork as assigned, such as paperwork to maintain inventory or procurement of spare parts and equipment.

Safety

  • Attend scheduled safety meetings.
  • Enforce all applicable safety policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Promote safety among co-workers.
  • Participate in Behavior Based Safety program.
  • Use proper safety tools, equipment, and procedures at all times.
  • Maintain tools in safe and good working condition.
  • Support Safe Feed Safe Food (SFSF) and Quality Systems certifications.
  • Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).
  • a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.

Perform General Plant labor in all operational areas of the plant.

  • Communicate and effectively work with management and fellow employees.
  • Follow all company rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform all tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proficient knowledge of 480V power distribution and motor control systems required.
  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant is required.
  • Read and understand one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Experience with Preventative maintenance programs
  • Ability to work as a positive team member.

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this position.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Lift over 50 pounds.

Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.

Required Experience:

Previous maintenance experience is preferred.

Required Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Successfully completed a maintenance apprenticeship program, graduated from a Vo-Tech program is a plus or equivalent proven work experience.
