Overview:

Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacture of LEDs, displays, power electronics, hard drives, compound semiconductors, MEMS, semiconductors advanced packaging and wireless chips. We are the market leader in MOCVD, MBE, Ion Beam, Wet Etch single wafer processing and other advanced thin film process technologies. Our high-performance systems drive innovation in energy efficiency, consumer electronics and network storage and allow our customers to maximize productivity and achieve lower cost of ownership. Veeco continues to grow and is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern.

The candidate will be a member of the Electrical Engineering team working on new product development, engineer-to-order designs, prototype and test stand development, and device testing/troubleshooting. This position involves electrical control system and A/C power distribution design and troubleshooting, motion control and robotics, specification and incorporation of OEM power supplies and controllers, and many other system-level engineering and design areas.

Schedule:

Must be local to our Horsham, PAoffice to accommodate the below:

• Part-time employment during the Fall and Springsemesters (a minimum of 15 hours)
• Full-time employment during the Summerand Winter breaks (40 hours)

Responsibilities:

• Participates in new product design, upgrade, obsolescence, and sustaining development activities utilizing CAD tools, including engineering drawing creation and changes, as well as BOM and ECN/ECO creation.
• Participates in performing validation testing for customer upgrades.
• Supports Production and Operation through hands-on troubleshooting of systems.
• Provide help identifying replacement for obsolete electrical components

Qualifications:

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic understanding of Electrical Engineering and components
• Able to read electrical schematics and functional block diagrams
• Experience with AutoCAD

• Knowledge and use of basic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and frequency generators
• Analog and digital testing and troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to interface with mechanical, software and applications engineers
• Solid knowledge MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Knowledge of SAP or similar MRP system a plus
