Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected for the Summer Co-Op Engineerr position will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Engineering Co-Op (Interns) perform design, development, and analysis in areas such as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic and heat transfer. Their work assists with General Dynamics Mission Systems production, transmission and measurement, as well as the use of mechanical and electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines and machines.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Co-Op (Engineering Intern) from August - December 2022 to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems' services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
  • Exposure to 3D printing is preferred, but not required
